The Doctrine of the Deity of Christ
1. The Trinity is not a Catholic invention or a Baptist doctrine but is firmly founded on the Bible itself. (1 John 5:7) The term Trinity comes from the Latin term “Trinitas” meaning three.
2. The Trinity is a fundamental of the Faith that must be believed in order to be Saved. (John 8:23-24) A proper view of Christ Jesus is necessary.
I. Jesus identified as The Lord not just Lord
· 1 Corinthians 2:8
· 1 Corinthians 12:3 (Notice it is saying “the” Lord and the only way you can say Jesus is the Lord is by the Holy Ghost. Compare this with Philippians 2:10-11 where the lost sinners are forced to bow down but they don’t say He is the Lord only He is Lord. Sound familiar?)
· 1 Corinthians 15:47
· Ephesians 4:5
· Deuteronomy 6:4
· Romans 10:9
· David called him Lord. (Psalm 110:1) Jesus refers to this in Matthew 22:44, Mark 12:36, Luke 20:42. Peter refers to it in Acts 2:34. It tells us that the Messiah would be the Lord himself! *Note: No Jewish father would ever think of calling his son Lord, yet David did!! David saw that according to the flesh his son, the Messiah, would be born through a Virgin (Isaiah 7:14) but as to the Spirit manifest in flesh (1 Timothy 3:16) he would be his Lord!
· Who will they look upon? Zechariah 12:10 (Read) Who is the speaker? Zechariah 12:7-8 tells us it is The Lord.
II. The Virgin Birth (Isaiah 7:14 – Matthew 1:23)
III. Given Divine Names (Isaiah 9:6)
IV. Everlasting (Micah 5:2, Colossians 1:17)

XI. Creative power – create something from nothing (Colossians 1, John 1, Hebrews 1)

XIII. Jesus was worshipped (John 9:38, Matthew 14:33, Luke 24:52, Hebrews 1:6, John 20:28) Jesus accepted worship, commended men for doing it, allowed them to do it and encouraged men to do it and NEVER refused it.
