John 3:16 tells us an all too familiar story which says “God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth IN Him SHOULD not parish but have everlasting life”. Now I capitalized the words I want to focus on in this passage that I feel we overlook. Now lets look at John 3:36. now very carefully notice how this verse is worded. “He that believeth ON the Son HATH everlasting life…”. So you may ask what is the difference? Very big indeed! You see everyone who believes in Jesus should not perish because they have been taught about Him however that does not mean they are saved so they can still die lost even if they believe IN him just as the devils believe. But when one Believes ON Jesus that man or woman HAS everlasting life because they has done something with what they believe in and that is put their trust is the Savior!!! That is what it means to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. We quote John 3:16 to people so much but if we don’t show them the difference between believing IN and believing ON then they may get the wrong understanding in this passage of Scripture.
