Better To Understand?
What Is Missing From Your Bible? Often when discussing Bible translations with people the common argument I hear is something along the lines of “new versions help me understand the Bible” or “They are only updating the language to help us better understand in modern English His Word”. Well lets take a closer look at this argument and see if it holds water. First and most important thing we as Christians must understand is if a person does not have the Holy Spirit residing on the inside of them they will not and cannot understand understand His Word period.(1 Corinthians 2:11-16) The Bible is a spiritual Book and cannot be understood without the Spirit of God opening our eyes to its contents. Now lets briefly look at the second thing people say and that’s updated language. Let me ask you a question on this point. How many times does the Bible need to be updated in its language until they get it right? There are over 200 “new” and “improved” Bibles on the market today and each one claims to be better than the one before it. Each year there is an average of about 2 “new” Bibles to hit the market with the promise of making the Bible better to understand. Interestingly enough each one compares itself against the King James Version in an attempt to shoot it down as an outdated version but here is another point. If that is the case why is it that these new Bible fades only last for a couple of months or so and then fade into obscurity. Now I have been hearing these arguments for years now and time and time again I come back to one unquestionable fact. Regardless what kind of promise they make to the customer(That is what it really boils down to with them is sales and money-2 Peter 2:3) at the end of the day it is a subtle attack on what God has said in His Word period. Let me give you a few examples. Is it just updated language when in the English Standard Version one of the more recent updates on the market the following passages are completely gone! Matthew 12:47,Matthew 17:21, Matthew 18:11, Matthew 23:14, Mark 9:44,46, Mark 11:26, Mark 15:28, Luke 17:36, Luke 23:17, John 5:4, Acts 28:29, Romans 16:24, 1 John 5:7. How is that for updated language!! They updated it right out of the Bible! That’s not all. Ive only scratched the surface with these I have presented here. There are over 200 omissions in the New Testament I have not mentioned that they have updated right out of your Bible!!! Better to understand now?
