Symbols of the Word
There are 9 symbols that represent the Word of God.
1. The Bible as a sword. (Hebrews 4:12) It convicts the hearer.
2. The Bible as a hammer. (Jeremiah 23:29) It breaks the resistance of the hearer.
3. The Bible as a seed. (1 Peter 1:23) It regenerates the hearer.
4. The Bible as a mirror. (James 1:22-25) It faithfully reflects and reveals the individual to himself. He sees a true picture of himself as portrayed by his Creator.
5. The Bible as a fire. (Jeremiah 23:29, 20:9) It consumes the dross(excess garbage) in the hearer.
6. The Bible as a lamp. (Psalm 119:105) It guides the believer daily.
7. The Bible as food/nourishment. It provides every type of protein and calorie one needs.
· Apples provide vitamins. (Proverbs 25:11)
· Milk provides calcium. (1 Peter 2:2)
· Meat provides protein. (1 Corinthians 3:2)
· Bread provides starch. (Matthew 4:4)
· Honey provides dextrose. (Psalm 19:10)

8. The Bible as water. (Ephesians 5:26) It washes the hearer’s conscience and keeps it clean. *Remember, the Bible will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from the Bible.
9. The Bible as nails. (Ecclesiastes 12:11) It anchors the Soul and keeps the hearer from falling.
