A Biblical Marriage
Duties of the Husband
1. Cleave to your wife. (Genesis 2:24, Mark 10:6-9)
2. Love your wife as Christ loves the church, anything less is a sin. (Ephesians 5:25)
3. Love your wife as you love your own body and self. (Ephesians 5:28,33, Genesis 24:67, 29:20)
4. Honor your wife; that your prayers are not hindered. (1Peter 3:7)
5. Do not be bitter towards your wife. (Colossians 3:19)
6. Cheer up your wife. (Deuteronomy 24:5)
7. Rejoice with your wife. (Proverbs 5:18, Ecclesiastes 9:9)
8. Forgive your wife. (Matthew 6:12-14, 18:35, Ephesians 4:26)
9. Rule your children and home well. (1Timothy 3:12)
10. Don’t provoke (enrage) your children. (Ephesians 6:4, Colossians 3:21)
11. Provide for your family. (1Timothy 5:8)
Duties of the Wife
1. Give no occasion to the adversary and guide the home. (1Timothy 5:14, Titus 2:5)
2. Give your husband honour. (Esther 1:20)
3. Wives are to submit and be in subjection to their husbands. (Colossians 3:18, Ephesians 5:22, 1Peter 3:1, Titus 2:5)
4. Wives are not to be idle. (Proverbs 31:27)
5. Wives are not to be slanders (gossips). (1Timothy 3:11)
6. Wives are to love their husbands. (Titus 2:4,14)
7. Wives are to be faithful. (1Timothy 3:11)
8. Wives are to forgive. (Matthew 6:12-14, 18:35, Ephesians 4:26)
9. Wives are to be grave (honest and honorable). (1Timothy 3:11)
10. Wives are to love their children. (Titus 2:4)
11. Wives are to be modest is their dress. (1Timothy 2:9-10, 1Peter 3:1-6)
